Observability of a system can be achieved by setting up metrics, logs, events, and other monitoring tools. Metrics are limited by definition as they represent a scalar value. Metrics are the pre-aggregation of scalar values. They measure the system performance over a period of time and can’t give information about a specific operation. A metric like page-load can’t tell which requests were slow. It can only tell the average over time.
